Philadelphia, PA- for the 2nd time in the last three years the Nyack men’s soccer team has captured the CACC tournament championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II Championships. After two scoreless halves, Josh Hacking (Junior/ Stratford, NJ) would net the game winner on a corner kick from Martin Narvaez (Senior/ Sydney, AUS) in the 8th minute of overtime.
The Warriors would out shoot Post 18-14, and out corner the Eagles 8-4.
"I am absolutely thrilled to win this game and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Title. We faced an outstanding Post University team that definitely did not deserve to lose," stated Head Coach Keith Davie after the overtime win, "It’s extremely great to win this because so many people did not give us much of a shot."
Hacking’s goal, his first of the season, came after a Narvaez corner led to a scramble for the ball before Hacking fired the game winner from 10 yards out.
The shutout victory was the 21st in the career for Nyack goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez, a graduate student from Buenos Aires Argentina. Ibanez was brilliant in the victory, tallying 4 saves and thwarting several different crosses to help keep a talented Post team at bay. His 21 shutouts rank him first all time in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference history.
In a post season in which he tallied two goals and 2 assists, sophomore Felix Horn was named CACC Tournament MVP. A first team all-conference selection, Horn led the Warriors with 11 goals in 2011.
Nyack also had 4 other Warriors receive All-Tournament Honors in Marco Likos, Gavin Penny, Mikey Robinson, and Adrian Ibanez.
