Skidmore’s Ocean City FC may have lost 6-2 to New Jersey Stallions, but Coach Neil Holloway insisted that the game “was a lot closer than the score-line suggests.”

Down 2-0 at the half, Nate Kummer sent an early cross into the New Jersey box that resulted in a fantastic header by Skidmore. The Stallions increased their lead to 3-1, however, before a wonder goal by Skidmore from a free kick sailed in from 30 yards. That was as close as Ocean City could get, as New Jersey finished off the game with the final three goals. 

“Attacking-wise we are always dangerous,” Holloway said. “Jason stepped up with two magnificent goals. It was just unfortunate that these goals were in vain; every time the Stallions attacked [it] resulted in a goal.”

Jackson assisted on Ocean City’s first goal before adding one of her own in a 3-2 win against the New Jersey Stallions. Liz Shendock scored the first and Rebecca Williams’ unassisted strike proved to be the difference as New Jersey pulled within one late in the game.
Jackson’s runs during the game opened scoring opportunities, but she was only able to convert the one chance. She also set up multiple opportunities for her teammates, especially Rebecca Williams.
 
“Sydney is a solid striker,” Coach Lance Evans said. “She has great size, speed, along with link-up ability with any relationship on the field. She benefited from strong play around her, especially from solid support from Karlee Ballard and Brianna Donahue, [who have] been consistently giving Sydney opportunity to make plays from their quality combination passes.”

Megan is currently the head coach of Gloucester County College. Megan led the Roadrunners to the NJCAA Region XIX Finals in the fall of 2011 and ended the season with a 10-10 record. In her first year at the helm of GCC in the fall of 2010 the team ended with a 10-8-1 record

Coach Ruttler, Galloway Township, comes from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey where she served for three seasons as assistant coach. Before her stint at Stockton, Megan coached at the high school level at Wall Township High School in Monmouth County and Winslow Township High School in Camden County.

In addition to her coaching skills, Ruttler also brings to Gboro Elite experience as a player who excelled at both the high school and collegiate levels. She was a three-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference player at Stockton and has played for the South Jersey Banshees and for Real Shore FC of the WPSL.

Coach Ruttler will be training our U20W team participating in the Super-20 League and our U23W team who will be playing in the US Club National Adult League.

Ocean City, N.J. - Ocean City FC and Glassboro Elite Soccer Club are delighted to continue their successful working relationship designed to enhance player development opportunities and provide players a national stage to showcase their talents through the United Soccer Leagues’ Super-20 League. The latest development sees the men’s and women’s U20 teams playing out of the Glassboro Elite.

“Having worked with the Glassboro soccer community through our professional training services for a number of years and taking a collaborative approach to the younger Super Y-League teams this season, it was a natural progression for us to base the Super-20 men’s and women’s teams out of Glassboro,” said Ocean City FC General Manager Neil Holloway. “High school seniors and college freshman and sophomores can play on the Super-20 teams and continue to compete and be showcased on a regional and national level during the summer.”

Duane Teel is President of Glassboro Elite Soccer and he told us how important and how excited they are to have the U20 men’s and women’s teams playing out of his facility: “Playing in the Super-20 League allows our players to come back from their college teams and continue playing at a high level. It gives our graduating high school players the opportunity to play with established college players and to prepare themselves for the upcoming college season at their new schools. Our Super-20 women’s team is comprised of 12 established collegiate players and a strong mix of graduating high school seniors.

“Currently, Glassboro, New Jersey is undergoing a major community revitalization project, bringing new life to our downtown and surrounding areas. Bringing the Super-20 League to Glassboro gives the soccer fans in our community an exciting opportunity to watch good competitive college soccer right in their backyard.

"It also sets the stage for the younger players in our club to see what is ahead of them and a goal to work towards” said Teel.

Ocean City FC has established itself as a leader in player development, by way of teams, training services, and camps throughout southern New Jersey. The success of Ocean City FC is based on its ability to improve all players and provide them not only with professional training and coaching, but also the highest level of amateur play in southern New Jersey with the Super Y-League.

Collegiate players interested should contact Gboroelite@comcast.net  prior to 3/26/12. Cost for the program will be $300.00, due upon acceptance to the team. Fee includes uniform, training, game fees, entrance to league and carding. The team will play and train in Glassboro.

 

The National Adult Leagues U-23 Division for women in the United States will kick off in summer 2012. This will provide top-level competition for college-bound, collegiate and high-level players throughout the country, with regional divisions offering qualification for a national championship, and local play for teams simply looking to get on the field during the summer months.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Age: U-23, with four overage players on game-day roster.
  • Gender: Men and women.
  • Timeframe: May 15 through July 31. This summer timeframe coincides with the collegiate offseason and allows players to prepare for the return to preseason, offering continued development opportunities during the summer. For non-college players, eventual plans include year-round play.
  • Structure: Summer season includes 8-10 regular-season games. Teams are able to play locally-only, or they have the ability of advancing to a regional and national championship.

Glassboro Elite Soccer hosts a year round program for players U15 and above that want to compete on a year round basis. These teams compete in MAPS, JAGS and Showcase Tournaments. Showcases provide a premier scouting opportunities and top competition during the season. Over 85% of graduates from Glassboro Elite participated in college soccer in 2009-10.

Each Gboro Elite year round team is evaluated twice a year by the coaches. Glassboro Elite teams will play approx. 45 games per year. Our season will consist of a 10 month season/schedule. Each Glassboro Elite player will start 30% of their games.
 
Glassboro Elite’s primary focus is on player development. Glassboro Elite players are provided with the best opportunity to achieve their potential as soccer players. The objective of the Gboro Elite Soccer Club is to provide a soccer training program that will develop players to their greatest potential, focusing on top-quality instruction and exposure to the highest levels of competition.
 
We encourage good sportsmanship; encourage teamwork and to learn the necessary skills to play competitive youth soccer. We provide a positive and professional learning environment to help players meet their individual goals and to help our teams compete at the regional and national level.

Our  training atmosphere is one in which the good of the whole group is valued as well as the needs of the individual.  We educate our teams by passing along our knowledge and life lessons so they can learn from them and from those who have been in our previous programs. Glassboro Elite constantly reassess our programs to enable participants to develop an attitude of higher achievement and sportsmanship that will carry over into the areas of education, citizenship, community responsibility, physical and mental fitness.
 
Our Super Y-League Program:

The 2012 Super Y-League launch of the Glassboro Elite Nor’easters in southwestern New Jersey shows the growth and structure that Ocean City FC is continuing to build. In turn, this will add another competitive club and well-rounded organization to the Super Y-League Mid Atlantic Division”, announced Brian D’Amico, Senior Director of Youth League Development for the United Soccer Leagues.

Since the re-branding of the Ocean City senior franchise in 2010, which saw the club launch the Nor’easter name for the men’s Premier Development League team, the club has focused its youth development program on creating partnerships and providing professional coaching expertise to already established local township soccer organizations, and enhancing player development opportunities through it’s Super Y-League and summer teams.

The Glassboro Elite Nor’easters will be located in the heart of Gloucester County, next to Rowan University. Glassboro is the largest city in Gloucester County perfectly located to service youth players from all over the south west region of New Jersey. The recent Rowan development has seen a revitalization of the Glassboro area and the infrastructure (Route 322 route 55) allows easy access for players from Cumberland, Salem, Camden and Burlington Counties. “Players throughout these counties will now be given the opportunity to play in the Super Y-League program which has some of the top competition in the country. Our players will be playing against top teams and clubs from Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey”, added Teel, “It also means players will no longer have to travel to Central Jersey and beyond to find top flight competition in the Super Y-League. We believe our program will also be at a more competitive cost than you can find in Central or North Jersey”.

The Glassboro Elite Nor’easters will be looking to strengthen existing relationships with other local townships clubs and create new relationships using the same player development model Ocean City has used in the shore counties.

 
Our Summer Program:
 
Glassboro Elite in conjunction with US Club Soccer has for the last five summers formed Elite Youth teams to compete in Summer Regional competitions as well as local soccer tournaments in the Tri-State area and beyond. The teams are comparable to a League Select format and are designed to bring those players not competing in league select to the next level based on their merit and not Club or League affiliations.
 
This is a summer program only and in no way conflicts with regular league or club play. All players are registered through US Club Soccer.  No poaching of players is allowed!
 
We strive towards the concept of creating team rosters comprised of players from a variety of locations and clubs in order for a diversity of soccer backgrounds and experience to be brought together in competition. All Gboro Elite teams will have access to experienced coaches.

Question 3: How long has Gboro Elite been running it’s summer tournament program?
Glassboro Elite Soccer was formed to provide a place to play in the summer for those players whose regular club teams do not play. This will be our seventh summer of providing a competitive, fun program for those players interested in competing year round. In 2005 we had two teams; in 2006 we had three teams; in 2007 we had five teams; in 2008 we had eight teams; in 2009 we had 12 teams and in 2010 we had 14 teams.
Question 4: Will playing in your program conflict with my regular club team?
No! We are a summer program only, we do not poach players. The Glassboro Soccer Club is a closed club and does not allow out of town players on it’s teams competing in the fall and spring. All players are carded thru US Club soccer and this carding does not conflict with any players carded thru NJYS. All players carded with US Club during the summer are released from their cards on August 1st, 2011.
Question 5: When are the tryouts for the 2012 Summer & Super Y-LeagueTeams?
March 31, 2012 for boys and April 1, 2012 for girls
Question 6: What is your refund policy?
U11-U16 TEAMS
After initial payment of $250.00 is received at the "Meet the Team" meeting any withdrawal from the program will be subject to a non-refundable $150.00 administrative fee. After first tournament no refund will be given except in case of a season ending injury.
U8-U10 TEAMS
After initial payment of $250.00 is received at the "Meet the Team" meeting any withdrawal from the program will be subject to a non-refundable $150.00 administrative fee. After first tournament no refund will be given except in case of a season ending injury.
REFUNDS FOR INJURY WILL BE SUBJECT TO A $150.00 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE. REFUNDS WILL ONLY BE GIVEN FOR A SUMMER ENDING INJURY WITH A NOTE FROM YOUR PHYSICAN.

QUESTIONS TO ASK COLLEGE COACHES 

 NCAA Rules Every Recruit Should Know

Q1. When can a college coach first contact me? Coaches can send you non]recruiting material (e.g. camp brochures and questionnaires) during your freshman and sophomore year. Recruiting material may be sent September 1 of your junior year. Coaches can call you starting July 1 going into your senior year and can contact you by phone once per week thereafter.
Q2. When can I reach out to a college coach with an email or a phone call? Prospects can call and email coaches without restriction.
Q3. Can I use social media to enhance my recruiting efforts? You can reach out to college coaches through social media, ask to be friended, but college coaches cannot reach out to you and send friend requests.
Q4. When can a recruit make an on]campus visit? A recruit can make unofficial visits to campuses at any time and there is no limit to unofficial visits . Official visits, visits in which all or a portion of the travel expenses (including airfare, food, and lodging) are paid by the college/university, are allowed after the first day of school in your senior year. Prospects can make one official visit to each school and a total of five official visits prior to graduation.
Q5. What makes me a recruitable prospect? You are classified as a recruitable prospect after you have received more than one telephone call from a program.
Q6. How many times can a coach come and watch me play? A college coach is allowed seven interactions (e.g., evaluations and contacts) per prospect during the course a prospect’s high school academic calendar. Evaluations are unlimited during summer and winter breaks.
Q7. When can I receive notification of the scholarship offer? Coaches are allowed to offer scholarships in writing starting the first school day of your senior year. Scholarships may be verbally offered at any time.
Q8. Can I and or my parents talk with the coach before and/or after the event that the coach has just observed?
During the day(s) of competition, the coach cannot contact you prior to the game in which you are participating or after the game until you are released by your coach and departed the facility. 

College Applying/Recruiting Reference Guide

Sophomore Year
• Review NCAA Athletic Eligibility Guidelines.
• Take PSAT test.
• Prepare soccer resume and player profile.
• Review 
NCAA Clearinghouse eligibility guidelines and understand requirements.
• Select junior year course to fulfill these requirements.
Summer Before Junior Year
• Register with NCAA Clearinghouse.
• Complete resume and player profile on the Gboro Elite Website.
• Search for colleges / universities that meet your interests and submit them to the Glassboro Elite College Director.
• Research the academics and teams at these schools.
• Send resume and player profiles to these schools.
Junior Year
• Take PSAT test for National Merit Scholarship.
• Play in College Showcase tournaments.
• Attend any recruitment seminars at these tournaments.
• Narrow your search to 10 or so schools.
• Contact coaches to schedule a time for an unofficial visit.
• Make unofficial visit (at your expense) to selected schools.
• Take SAT test.
• Check status with NCAA Clearinghouse.
• Select senior year courses to complete Clearinghouse requirements.
• Obtain college financial aid form (FAFSA).
• Send coaches updated resume and player profile, send dates of tournaments and league games. 
Summer Before Senior Year
• Complete unofficial school visits.
• Narrow search to 5 or 10 schools.
• Evaluate opportunities during recruiting calls from coaches.
• Complete FAFSA form for an estimate of available aid.

Senior Year
• Check status with NCAA Clearinghouse.
• Narrow search to 5 schools.
• Send “Early Admission” application to the 5 schools.
• Complete FAFSA form again with recent tax information.
• Complete 5 Official (at the schools expense) visits.
• Make a decision and sign a National Letter of Intent.

 Recruiting Definitions

Contact
A contact occurs any time a coach has any face-to-face contact with you or your parents off the college’s campus and says more than hello. A contact also occurs if a coach has any contact with you or your parents at your high school or any location where you are competing or practicing.
Contact Period 
During this time, a college coach may have in-person contact with you and/or your parents on or off the college’s campus. The coach may also watch you play or visit your high school. You and your parents may visit a college campus and the coach may write and telephone you during this period.
Dead Period 
The college coach may not have any in-person contact with you or your parents at any time in the dead period. The coach may write and telephone you or your parents during this time.
Evaluation
An evaluation is an activity by a coach to evaluate your academic or athletics ability. This would include visiting your high school or watching you practice or compete.
Evaluation Period 
The college coach may watch you play or visit your high school, but cannot have any in-person conversations with you or your parents off the college’s campus. You and your parents can visit a college campus during this period. A coach may write and telephone you or your parents during this time.
Official Visit 
Any visit to a college campus by you and your parents paid for by the college. The college may pay the following expenses:
• Your transportation to and from the college;
• Room and meals (three per day) while you are visiting the college; and
• Reasonable entertainment expenses, including three complimentary admissions to a home athletics contest.

Before a college may invite you on an official visit, you will have to provide the college with a copy of your high school transcript (Division I only) and SAT, ACT or PLAN score and register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Prospective Student-Athlete 
You become a “prospective student-athlete” when:
• You start ninth-grade classes; or
• Before your ninth-grade year, a college gives you, your relatives or your friends any financial aid or other benefits that the college does not provide to students generally.
Quiet Period 
The college coach may not have any in-person contact with you or your parents off the college’s campus. The coach may not watch you play or visit your high school during this period. You and your parents may visit a college campus during this time. A coach may write or telephone you or your parents during this time.
Unofficial Visit 
Any visit by you and your parents to a college campus paid for by you or your parents. The only expense you may receive from the college is three complimentary admissions to a home athletics contest. You may make as many unofficial visits as you like and may take those visits at any time. The only time you cannot talk with a coach during an unofficial visit is during a dead period.
Verbal Commitment 
This phrase is used to describe a college-bound student-athlete’s commitment to a school before he or she signs (or is able to sign) a National Letter of Intent. A college-bound student-athlete can announce a verbal commitment at any time. While verbal commitments have become very popular for both college-bound student-athletes and coaches, this "commitment" is NOT binding on either the college-bound student-athlete or the school. Only the signing of the National Letter of Intent accompanied by a financial aid agreement is binding on both parties.

Registration Instructions:
 
1) It will only take about 5 minutes to complete the entire process.
 
2) If any information changes during the season (i.e. phone numbers, addresses, e-mail addresses etc.), you will be able to re-enter the system using a password that will be e-mailed back to you at the completion of registration. You also use this password to login to make future scheduled payments.
 
3) Please complete all information that is requested so that we may better serve you. As part of a security process, you will be asked to provide the player’s mother maiden name. This will be used in case you ever forget your password to re-enter the system.

In order to service you better we require all players representing Glassboro Elite Soccer, or participating in any Glassboro Elite Soccer program, to register online. This will enable us to keep a secure record of all registration details and payments. The process is simple and will only take approximately 5 minutes to complete, once you have registered you will have a username and password which you can use when you wish to log in again making the process even quicker.

Registering online will also give you three payment options for your club fee:
 
Make all payments via Check.

Make some payments via Check and some via Credit Card.

Super Y-LeagueFounded in 1999, the Super Y-League is dedicated to the progression of future professional players.
